Turkish Extruders Turn to UV Laser Marking as EU Export Traceability and Post-Earthquake Building Codes Converge

JINAN, China – KingVan Technology is expanding its engagement with Turkey's aluminum profile industry as extruders and thermal break strip producers accelerate adoption of UV laser marking. According to industry analysis, two forces are converging on Turkish fenestration manufacturers: the need to document product traceability for the European export market, and the rapid upgrade of domestic building standards following the 2023 earthquake zone reconstruction program—both of which favor thermally broken window systems and the permanent marking that modern quality systems require.

Turkey is one of Europe's largest producers of aluminum extrusions, with a substantial share of output shipped to EU member states for use in windows, façades, and curtain walling. Industry observers note that European buyers increasingly require documented traceability for thermal break components, mirroring the marking practices established under EN 14024-compliant production. At the same time, Turkey's domestic reconstruction effort—driven by stricter seismic design requirements and energy efficiency targets for new buildings—is pushing local developers toward high-performance thermally broken profiles, expanding the addressable market for marked strip products inside the country as well.

"Turkish extruders have always competed on quality; now they are being asked to prove it," said KingVan's director of European operations. "A German or Dutch buyer does not just want a good strip—they want to know which batch it came from, which line produced it, and that the marking will still be readable when the window is installed five years from now. UV laser is the only marking technology that answers all of those questions at line speed."

Export Documentation Drives Traceability Demand

The shift toward UV laser marking in Turkey is being led by extruders and strip producers with significant EU exposure, where customers increasingly request Data Matrix codes carrying batch, date, and production-line data for every delivered coil. For these producers, marking quality is not an aesthetic consideration but a contractual one: codes must be machine-readable after storage, transport, fabrication, and installation, in environments that include cold European winters and hot Anatolian summers.

KingVan's KV-UV15 ultraviolet laser marking system is designed for this application. The system produces high-contrast, permanent codes on white PA66 and glass-fiber-reinforced PA66 GF25/GF30 thermal strips without damaging the material, at throughput rates that match modern extrusion and punching lines. Because UV marking creates a true material interaction rather than a surface-applied layer, the codes withstand handling, fabrication, and years of in-service exposure—durability that inkjet and embossing cannot match, and that export customers increasingly specify.

"We see the same pattern in Turkey that we saw in Germany and Italy a few years ago," the European operations director noted. "Producers start by marking to satisfy one or two demanding customers, then discover the marking data is valuable across their whole operation—for quality control, for warranty claims, and for defending themselves in disputes. Within a year, marking stops being a cost and becomes part of the production system."

Domestic Reconstruction Adds a Second Growth Engine

Beyond exports, Turkey's reconstruction and building-code modernization program is creating substantial domestic demand for thermally broken window systems—and with them, marked thermal break strips. Stricter seismic design rules and energy efficiency requirements for new construction are shifting specification toward insulated aluminum profiles in residential and commercial projects alike, particularly in the urban centers being rebuilt across the earthquake zone.

KingVan reports growing inquiries from Turkish strip producers serving this domestic channel, who are standardizing on UV laser marking from the start rather than retrofitting it later. The company notes that starting with UV marking in new production lines is significantly simpler than replacing an existing inkjet or embossing setup, and that producers who build marking into their quality system from day one avoid the rework and customer complaints that legacy technologies generate.

"The smart Turkish producers are treating marking as a greenfield decision," said the operations director. "They look at the export market, they look at the reconstruction program, and they conclude that UV is where the market is going. Installing it now means their quality system is built once and works for both channels."

KingVan Expands Turkey Support and Integration

To support the growing interest, KingVan has established a Turkey-focused applications program, with application engineers available for process qualification, installation supervision, and operator training at extrusion and strip production facilities across the country. The company's MarkOS enterprise software—which provides batch tracking, production reporting, and ERP integration—has been localized for Turkish data standards and reporting practices, allowing producers to link marking data directly into their quality management and export documentation systems.

KingVan reports that initial KV-UV15 installations at Turkish extrusion facilities are now in production, with early results consistent with performance benchmarks across its installed base in Germany, Italy, Poland, and Spain. The company is also preparing the KV-UV20, a higher-throughput system for wide thermal strip profiles, for European certification testing, which will give Turkish producers serving the largest export orders a clear upgrade path as volumes grow.
