North American Fenestration Market Turns to UV Laser Marking as Energy Codes Accelerate Thermal Break Adoption

Traceability Becomes a Competitive Requirement
For North American thermal strip producers, the shift to UV laser marking is driven as much by supply-chain requirements as by regulation. Major extruders are increasingly requiring their strip suppliers to apply permanent, machine-readable marking—typically Data Matrix codes and alphanumeric identifiers—at frequent intervals along each strip, enabling full batch tracing from extrusion through fabrication to installation. In a market where warranty claims and liability are significant concerns, manufacturers view durable marking as essential quality documentation rather than an optional extra.
KingVan's KV-UV15 ultraviolet laser marking system is designed specifically for this application. KV-UV20 Pipeline Builds for Higher-Throughput Lines
For producers operating high-speed extrusion lines, KingVan continues development of the KV-UV20, a higher-throughput system capable of marking wider thermal strip profiles at speeds up to 200 strips per minute. The KV-UV20, which is scheduled to begin CE certification testing later this year, is expected to become available in North America following its European market introduction, giving regional producers a clear upgrade path as their volumes grow.
KingVan will showcase the KV-UV15 and related thermal strip marking solutions at major North American fenestration and building industry events over the coming year, where the company will offer live demonstrations on polyamide thermal strip samples.
